Tips For Making A Tequila Sunrise

  • If you want to keep the nice "sunrise" texture while you drink, don't stir it. Otherwise, if you want to have a consistent tasting experience, stir it.

  • The amount of grenadine used differs a lot between bartenders. Play around with the amounts and figure out what you like best.

  • Maraschino cherries work best for the garnish.

  • The Grenadine sinks to the bottom because it is more dense than the other ingredients, causing the "sunrise" effect.

Best Tequila For A Tequila Sunrise

Traditionally, blanco tequilas are used in tequila sunrises. It's very easy to tell the difference between a good tequila and a bad tequila, so don't cheap out on it. Bad tequila is quite harsh, and won't make a good Tequila Sunrise. In my personal experience, I've found that Patrón Silver works best.
