The Classic Daiquiri is a simple, yet delicious, combination of white rum, lime juice, and simple syrup. The balance of sweet and sour, along with the smoothness of the rum, makes a refreshing and delightful drink.

This is a great base for your creativity, inspiring many flavor variations such as the Strawberry Daiquiri, but I'm going to show you how to make the traditional Daiquiri today.

Tips For Making A Classic Daiquiri

  • Demerara simple syrup was traditionally used in Cuba, where this drink originated. This makes it richer, and a bit smoother, so try it out if you have any!

  • To make simple syrup yourself, boil and mix water and sugar in a 1:1 ratio.

  • This drink isn't served with ice, so it's best to chill your glass before preparing.

  • As always, fresh lime juice is far better than store-bought, because it keeps its natural acidity and flavor much better.

What's A Classic Daiquiri Made Of?

The Classic Daiquiri recipe consists of just 3 ingredients:

  • White Rum, such as Bacardi
  • Lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • Simple syrup

Classic Daiquiri Garnishes

Traditionally, the Daiquiri doesn't have a garnish. If you wanted to use one, like we have in this recipe, the go-to is lime, either in the form of a lime wheel or lime twist.

Best Rum For A Classic Daiquiri

White or light rum is used in a Classic Daiquiri. This is a clear liquor, with slightly sweet flavor. It allows the flavor of the lime juice and simple syrup to shine through. In my experience, the best brands are Bacardi, and Plantation 3 Stars.
